There is a growing consensus that teacher resilience is a social-ecological phenomenon. What this means is that resilience is not a trait that a teacher holds. Rather it is a process of interacting factors operating between the individual teacher (e.g. self-esteem), their immediate environment (e.g. support from colleagues) and the broader education system (e.g. policies and accountability systems).
